Obituary for Franklin Phillip "Frank" Wienecke

Franklin Phillip "Frank" Wienecke
Franklin Phillip Wienecke left this earth to meet his God and heavenly reward on
November 6 2016, at age 77. Frank was born February 8 1939 to Fred and Elizabeth (Zemke) Wienecke in Talent Oregon. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Beverly Joan (Keene), brothers Clarence and Monte, three sons Fritz, Jim and Barney, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Frank had a passion for fishing which, in December of 1973, led him to move his family to Crescent City California to embark upon his first business venture. It was a small fishing tackle shop which expanded to become Crescent Marine Supply, and is still an ongoing business as Englund Marine.
In 1990 Frank saw that the community had a need, and proceeded to open Crescent Ace Hardware.
The hardware store, lumber yard, electronics department, and truss manufacturer are also ongoing businesses, being co-owned and managed by sons Jim and Barney Wienecke.
Fishing was an ever present part of Franks life. He loved taking friends and family salmon fishing at every opportunity, as well as operating as a commercial fisherman. The pinnacle of his fishing pursuit was his commercial boat the "Phoenix" which is still in operation.
Frank had been a member of the Masonic lodge since 1970. He also loved the Shriners and participated in many parades.
"Successful" would probably be the word most used to describe Frank. Many would rightly say that he was a "hard worker", "dependable" or a "great businessman", since the work of his hands was blessed by God in a mighty way. But those who knew him well would say that what drove his success was a deep love for people, a generous heart, and desire to help others.
All friends and family are invited to a brief memorial service on Friday, November 11 at 2 p.m. at Hillcrest Mortuary Chapel, 2201 North Phoenix Road in Medford - casual attire please.
In Crescent City, all who would like to share memories of Frank are invited to come join friends and family on Sunday, November 13, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Crescent Ace Hardware. Refreshments will be provided. Attire strictly casual of course. Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary of Medford, in care of arrangements. www.hillcrestmortuary.com
